Parents

Brian, Dan and I flew up to Pittsburgh two weeks ago to visit my parents. It had been my mother's birthday and I thought a good time to go see her. It was an enjoyable time spent with family.
On this trip, I ended up not renting a car because my Dad insisted that their car was there for my using. The first day I asked him for the keys to go somewhere, I felt as if I was back in my teens trying to get away with something! After asking where I was going and how long I would be out, he proceeded to hand over the keys. My first thought was to say "where's the closest car rental place?!" The next trip was even more interesting. I sat in the back seat with my two boys, while Dad drove and Mom told him where to go! Once again, I felt like I was back in my childhood. It's funny how things seem to stay the same between parent and child, while child to parent changes. Parents....you got to love them. :)

do you come from a big family, how many siblings?  I remember my two sisters and me in the back of the little car, going on vacations.  We were quite cramped, and then my little brother came along, I only remember like one family vacation when we were little with all four of us.  But those trips were so cramped.  We played the counting cows game everywhere we went, the most cows win, hit a graveyard and you lose all your points.  And a white horse bonus points.

Your parents are just adorable!
I know now where you get your
looks from!  Great entry!
My Mom drives me nuts sometimes,
but I love her to pieces.

You've got that right.  When I would go to visit my parents in the twon I grew up in they complained when I wanted to drop in on old friends.  They would remind me that I came down to be with them, not that I got down there that often, but I found that I would just hve to bite the bullet and go and visit my old friends but keep it short so their feelings wouldn't be hurt.  In our parents eyes I suppose we never grow up, especially if we are the baby of the family.

It could be worse. Dena's parents have realized how great it is to have us around. So we now have to chauffeur them everywhere in our car!

You are so right.  What can you do but accept them in all their frailty.  Thank goodness life at least seemed planned out and secure when I was a kid.  Currently I am really enjoying the relationship I have with my parents, especially my dad.
