The Weekend

We spent the holiday weekend at the lake and I was able to get in some serious paddling time.  I enjoyed the quiet time early in the morning before all the motor boats hit the water.  With my map in hand I explored some new places.  I came across deer drinking from the water, different kinds of birds with my new favorite being the heron, and butterflies galore floating in the air.  I fully expected to see a snake in my boat each morning as I left the kayak on the water's edge.  I am happy to say that it didn't occur, but I did have an inch worm crawling up my inner thigh while out in the middle of the lake.  I was lucky I didn't tip!  I don't like bugs!  lol   Needless to say, I just came back from ordering a storage cover for the opening.   :)

Carol, I feel like I'm there with you enjoying it with you.  This is such an awesome shot, you do have a beautiful life, that's what it's all about.  With so much to absorb, you must feel blessed.  Seems like I miss so much around me being so fast paced.  Seems like a long time since I got to slow down.

the blue heron is my favorite bird, I have an entry somewhere in here where I took a picture of one, I'll look for it and send.  They are beautiful, and there is some significance of good things to come in your life when you come across one.  It's ancient chinese proverb or something, I'll have to look it up.

Have a wonderful week

What a GREAT way to spend a day!  I've also been amazed at how close you can get to wildlife in a quiet kayak and a little patience. I'll be looking forward to reading more about your time on the lake and I hope you continue to share them with us on your web site. The autumn fall colors are beautiful on the water!

Thanks for a great entry.

Awesome photo!  That one is a great choice to accompany your entry.  Although, the kayak is still making me jealous!  The earthworm would have freaked me out for sure since in my mind it would have been a black widow spider!  lol  We spent the weekend on the river also, camping in our new tent which gives us a little more space, and floating on Monday, my birthday.  I saw the date on the photo you took was my birthday, so it's nice to know somebody else was having a great day too.  :) http://journals.aol.com/moltenhalo/TheCorner
